Šafář 15°: The Story of a Beer

Šafář is not just a name. It is a real story that we literally unearthed beneath layers of dust while restoring the brewery – a small metal tag engraved with the name and job title of our great-great-grandfather. It was he who worked as the šafář (estate manager/steward) at the Schönborn counts’ court in Kout na Šumavě.

Our family has lived in the Kout brewery for as long as anyone can remember. Today we are proud to be repairing this historic site, opening it to the public once again, and continuing the work of those who, in the 19th century, made the brewery flourish – the former šafáři, managers and stewards of the estate.

Šafář is our tribute to them.

A strong, honestly brewed beer with 15 % EPM (15° Plato original gravity) carries the character that honours both tradition and craft – full flavour, a denser body, and an aroma rooted in the long history of the Kout na Šumavě brewery.
